Plastic breakdown.
Everything you need to know about plastic from beginning to end.
What is is made from?
Did you know that plastic is made from the nonrenewable resources oil, gas, and coal? Form the very beginning of its life, the extraction of these resources emits 13.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide in just one step of its production. During plastic refining, so much carbon dioxide is released per year that it's equivalent to the amount of emission from 45 million passenger vehicles. Looking at the whole world, there is about 40 billion metric tons of CO2 released into the environment per year; imagine how much more carbon dioxide will being released as our plastic addiction increases. This is just a look at two steps in plastic production but this is too much CO2 for this life-changing product.
